Product Manager

SUMMARY:

NICOR Lighting's Product Manager will lead the NICOR lighting product line activities in North America and is responsible for product life cycle management, product commercialization, market penetration strategies and competitive leadership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine market needs and trends for various lighting products in North America. Implement product innovation strategies via voice of the customer (VOC) activities with sales team, distributors, contractors, architects, and end-users.
  2. Conduct detailed competitive analysis to keep NICOR an innovation leader within the industry. Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the competitive landscape using this understanding to provide competitive intelligence to sales.
  3. Define and maintain product roadmaps and features prioritization for all new and some existing products.
  4. Coordinate and lead all product training activities for internal/external sales teams and customers.
  5. Partner with sourcing department on identifying potential supplier sources for assigned products and provide analysis and recommendations
  6. Ensures that all product management deliverables are complete prior to each tollgate review and meets all deadlines.
  7. Oversee the product lifecycle and provide initial and long-term lifecycle forecasting.
  8. Work in close alignment with the marketing team to introduce products into the market on time and within budget. Develop collateral material for products and company materials.
  9. Act as subject matter expert for product level promotions by providing technical product content and competitive analysis; support trade-show activities.
  10. Detailed review of incoming new products to ascertain their market viability, overall quality, and strategic potential to add to the NICOR product line.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, or business from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering, marketing, product management experience with technical products in the lighting industry, lighting controls or power management industries.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of residential and commercial LED lighting, technical specifications, applications, and implementation
  • Experience in wireless technology, controls, or smart technologies a strong plus
  • Solid understanding of LED technology, dimming standards and characteristics
  • Basic understanding of UL, Energy Star, Title 24, DLC and other compliance related legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work interactively with engineering and marketing teams
  • Financial acumen as it relates to pricing and budget development.
  • Experience with strategic planning, product development and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service focus and provides satisfactory resolution to customer questions.
  • Experience working with international cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.

  • May require standing or walking for more than 4 hours per day.
  • Shop work building, modifying, and testing SSL prototypes using hand tools.
  • Laboratory work using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
  • Able to lift 40lbs.
  • Limited travel to various service/component suppliers’ meetings or industry conferences and trade shows.

Digital Marketing Specialist

SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Specialist will provide full digital brand management for NICOR’s On-Line Products.  Working with both the Marketing and E-Commerce Departments, will be responsible for developing, preparing, producing, and maintaining digital presence for NICOR within the organization’s design standards and management direction.  This role will plan and execute all web, SEO/SEM, database marketing, email, social media, display advertising campaigns, and support/maintain company E-Commerce brand store pages.  Will work collaboratively with E-commerce and Marketing and with other departments to achieve successful product placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Create and maintain E-Commerce retail Brand Sites (Amazon, Houzz, eBay, Etc.)
  2. Design, build, and maintain digital marketing presence for on-line product placement.
  3. Plans and executes all web, SEO/SEM (Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization), database marketing, email, social media, and display advertising campaigns.
  4. Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assesses against goals (ROI and KPIs).
  5. Identifies trends and insights and optimizes spend and performance based on the insights.
  6. Brainstorms new and creative growth strategies through digital marketing.
  7. Plans, executes, and measures experiments and conversion tests.
  8. Collaborates with internal teams to create product imagery and optimize user experience.
  9. Provides writing and editing support for all outbound communications, including advertisements, digital assets, email marketing campaigns, and other projects.
  10. Handles routine projects, often on a quick turnaround basis, and adheres strictly to established deadlines.
  11. Ensures continuity and adherence to NICOR’s brand standards among external and internal communications.
  12. Work with both Marketing and E-Commerce departments.
  13. Produces photographs and videos for a variety of company communication projects.
  14. Stages, records, and produces instructional and feature videos for marketing promotions, training courses, and other uses.
  15. Schedules and takes product/company photos.
  16. Provides product content and images, and video elements for the company website and catalog as required.
  17. Manage/maintain E-Commerce digital advertising campaigns. Maintains database of photography, artwork, and documents.
  18. Assist in formatting and importing content (digital assets, documents, images, metadata) into the Product Information Management (PIM) system
  19. Strong understanding of database systems with experience in onboarding content and importing metadata
  20. Assisting with merchandise, tradeshow management, and help design and produce other content.
  21. Prepare layouts, designs, and artwork for exhibitions and tradeshows, including signage, handouts, banners, display graphics, and other promotional elements.
  22. Coordinates relationships with vendors, preparing artwork and specifications and obtaining estimates for final approval.
  23. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communication, Business or related field or combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in social media marketing.
  • Experience in the Lighting industry preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Advertising, Social Media Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience with social media content platforms and systems.
  • Experience using email marketing and social media management software (such as HubSpot).
  • Experience with website and marketing analytics tools/software (such as Google Analytics).
  • Experience in Graphic Design.
  • Experience in product/general photography and editing.
  • Basic knowledge of audio and video production and editing to ensure clean recordings and consistent sound in each video.
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Platforms, including Photoshop and Illustrator

Warehouse Associate

FLSA: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the Warehouse Manager, perform all warehouse functions necessary in the daily operation of a distribution warehouse. Including but not limited to, moving inventory and other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles or shipping containers by hand, tractors, or other equipment.  Back up other warehouse functions and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain warehouse and equipment in a safe, organized and clean manner.
  2. Perform related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient use of all warehouse equipment, supplies and materials.
  3. Communicate as necessary with Warehouse Manager to ensure accurate and efficient control of inventory.
  4. Perform standard inventory control functions as required to maintain an accurate and efficient control of inventory.
  5. Load/unload inventory as required from appropriate shipping container or delivery vehicle
  6. Stage incoming/outgoing inventory in proper location(s)
  7. Read pick-tickets, packing slips and operate scan guns
  8. Record number of units received or shipped
  9. Pick, pack, weigh and attach identifying tags/labels for shipping inventory
  10. Install protective devices such as corner bracing and shrink wrap to prevent shifting or damage during shipping.
  11. Ship inventory using most cost-effective methods and carriers using SHIMS and other software provided
  12. Participate in ongoing product and company-wide training
  13. Perform Quality Control (QC) Inspection of all incoming inventory.
  14. Notify Return Good Authorization (RGA) Quality Control (QC) Inspector of customer returns

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum one (1) year warehouse experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of warehouse processes and procedures
  • Shipping and freight processes, regulations, and procedures
  • Basic math and reading (English) skills
  • Effective communication skills

Electrical Engineer (Controls Engineer)

SUMMARY:

NICOR Lighting's Electrical Engineer will deal with control systems focusing on the design, development, and testing of our products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure product design integrity by reviewing designs, recommending actions, providing solutions to the most technical challenges, and providing overall electrical technical leadership.
  2. Specific responsibility for creating system architecture, combining lighting, controls, and services.
  3. Work with Management teams, Marketing, and Sales to define new product requirements, and map the requirements into technical performance specifications.
  4. Work closely with Manufacturing Operations to bring new SSL product designs through prototyping, testing, certification, and product launch.
  5. Differentiate and manage SSL product design projects including technology provider selection; project goals; schedules; budget; and overall project management functionalities.
  6. Define, organize, and maintain NICOR Server file structure of SSL specifications, CAD files, design documents and revisions, bills of materials (BOMs), etc.
  7. Evaluate and select the electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and semiconductor components determined to be optimal for design and manufacture of NICOR SSL products.
  8. Continuously review and evaluate new SSL technologies, competitor products, and NICOR SSL products (including field failures and customer returns) to keep NICOR at the forefront of SSL competition.
  9. Help optimize supply chain, manufacturing cost reduction, quality control, and resolution of any product issues.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Engineering software - Electrical: Solid works PCB, Eagle PCB, PC Worx, JetBrains; InDesign; Illustrator; Photometric toolbox.
  • Strong lighting controls experience, DALI protocols a plus.
  • Understanding/knowledge of lighting basics, solid state lighting, LED arrays and PCB design
  • Basic math and reading (English) skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with excellent follow-up.
  • Five years related industry experience, lighting or controls experience a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Programming experience with structured text, C, C++, Java script.
  • Experience with PLC programing to IEC 61131-3 standard and other system controls standards.
  • Theory-of-operation knowledge and understanding of LED’s, electrical power supply and drive circuitry, heat sink thermodynamics, optics, and general knowledge of Solid-State Lighting components.
  • Experience with DALI controls is a requirement. Additional experience with BLE MESH, Wi-Fi based system architecture, and wireless controls systems and low voltage system development a strong plus.
  • Experience with IoT solutions a plus
  • Experience specifying plug-n-play low-voltage and line-voltage wiring systems a plus
  • General hands-on proficiency with computers, electronic test instruments, lab and shop tools related to prototype building and testing.
  • Proven project management skills and experience as related to bringing new products to market on time and within budget.
  • Ability to interface with and manage a wide variety of component suppliers, technology vendors, contract manufacturers, design service providers, etc.
  • Responsive sense of urgency to take approved final product to market in an efficient manner.
