Supply Chain Specialist

FLSA: Exempt

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.  They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain and includes supporting the VP of Asia Operations and will perform all purchasing and supply chain functions necessary to maintain daily operations.  Including but not limited to, managing activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, locating orders, and updating company system.  This position requires flexibility and a strong commitment to detail.  It is a high volume and fast paced position that is filled with complexity; good decision-making skills and the ability to work cross-functionally internally and externally are a must.  Excellent communication and problem-solving skills in the field of international business and within a supply chain industry are required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate supply chain logistics.
  2. Understanding of the supply chain process to include inventory control, supply levels, order timing, stock/shipping distributions, price control, manufacturing processes, and product knowledge.
  3. Interact with domestic and international suppliers and vendors on all matters pertaining to NICOR’s Supply Chain.
  4. Manage order placement/receipt and after vendor quality issues.
  5. Update and maintain accurate shipping information and order tracking system.
  6. Update product information in ERP system as needed, including weights, cubes, barcodes, and other necessary data.
  7. Maintain purchasing and inventory database to include but not limited to pricing, inventory levels, and setting up new items.
  8. Obtain product data sheets, specifications and cut sheets from vendors; maintain physical and online files for the preservation of data.
  9. Prepare, execute, and receive purchase orders.  Coordinate and track incoming containers.
  10. Review and analyze reports to determine potential inventory/product overages and shortages and adjusts forecast/order quantities accordingly.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  12. Coordinate and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  13. Utilize company inventory system (SHIMS) to analyze data and assist in operational planning.
  14. Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  15. Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
  16. Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
  17. Communicate as necessary with company management team to ensure accurate and efficient control of inventory.
  18. Provide inventory status update to sales and marketing team.
  19. Develop and authorize all purchase orders and ensure compliance company policy and procedure.
  20. Perform troubleshoot on all invoice and price issues along with delivery related problems.
  21. Evaluate performance of all carriers, vendors and goods delivery and make recommendations to improve processes for international buying process.
  22. Coordinate with forwarders to manage international logistics including freight cost monitoring and approval.
  23. Work with broker to handle customs clearance and duty/tariff payment.
  24. Maintain effective customer services and ensure timely delivery and maintain track of product progress and development.
  25. Monitor potential stock out caused by delivery delay, etc. and take necessary actions to ensure availability of product.
  26. Administer used, new, and overstocked items and monitor all alternate sources for rejected, backordered and expensive items.
  27. Manage and reduce excess/discontinued/obsolete inventory
  28. Manage all communication and negotiate with suppliers on price and delivery terms to reduce inventory levels and cost.
  29. Provide analysis on detail cost comparison.
  30. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in in Business Administration, Purchasing Supply Chain, or related field or combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Buying, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Customer Service
  • Minimum 5 years supply chain/distribution experience.
  • Experience in the Lighting industry preferred, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Director of Supply Chain Operations

SUMMARY:

Responsible for procurement of finished products, components, incoming transportation, and related supply chain activities necessary for the management of inventory of finished goods for sale and components for manufacturing/assembly.  This position requires flexibility and a strong commitment to detail.  It is a high volume and fast paced position that is filled with complexity; good decision-making skills and the ability to work cross-functionally internally and externally are a must.  Requires subject matter expertise in purchasing, supply chain process and International Business & Logistics. Responsible for leading teams who manage the purchasing, application, and delivery of products to support the business needs of NICOR, Inc. in sales of North America.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  2. Interact with domestic and international contract manufacturers and suppliers on all matters pertaining to NICOR’s Supply Chain
  3. Oversee order placement, order receipt, and after sale vendor quality issues.

  13. Prepares, executes, and receives purchase orders.  Coordinate and track incoming containers.

  15. Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
  16. Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, distribution locations, and in the factory.
  17. Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production and customer service.
  18. Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
  19. Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
  20. Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  21. Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
  22. Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
  23. Maintain or improves processes for continually managing excess/discontinued/obsolete inventory.
  24. Oversees Purchasing Agents activities and reporting, including forecasting, gap & buy reports, and open purchase orders.
  25. Review and approve purchase orders.
  26. Ensure data integrity within the SHIMS inventory system.
  27. Coordinate and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  28. Manage inventory levels and stock transfers for all branch locations.
  29. Negotiation and experience in securing least cost shipping logistic for incoming products.
  30. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred):  Accounting, Business Management, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field of study.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities assigned or comprehensive knowledge of the industry.
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification (preferred, but not required).
  • Supply Chain Certifications (preferred, but not required – CPIM, CSCP, CLTD)
  • Warehouse experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Product Manager

SUMMARY:

NICOR Lighting's Product Manager will lead the NICOR lighting product line activities in North America and is responsible for product life cycle management, product commercialization, market penetration strategies and competitive leadership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine market needs and trends for various lighting products in North America. Implement product innovation strategies via voice of the customer (VOC) activities with sales team, distributors, contractors, architects, and end-users.
  2. Conduct detailed competitive analysis to keep NICOR an innovation leader within the industry. Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the competitive landscape using this understanding to provide competitive intelligence to sales.
  3. Define and maintain product roadmaps and features prioritization for all new and some existing products.
  4. Coordinate and lead all product training activities for internal/external sales teams and customers.
  5. Partner with sourcing department on identifying potential supplier sources for assigned products and provide analysis and recommendations
  6. Ensures that all product management deliverables are complete prior to each tollgate review and meets all deadlines.
  7. Oversee the product lifecycle and provide initial and long-term lifecycle forecasting.
  8. Work in close alignment with the marketing team to introduce products into the market on time and within budget. Develop collateral material for products and company materials.
  9. Act as subject matter expert for product level promotions by providing technical product content and competitive analysis; support trade-show activities.
  10. Detailed review of incoming new products to ascertain their market viability, overall quality, and strategic potential to add to the NICOR product line.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, or business from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering, marketing, product management experience with technical products in the lighting industry, lighting controls or power management industries.

Warehouse Associate

FLSA: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the Warehouse Manager, perform all warehouse functions necessary in the daily operation of a distribution warehouse. Including but not limited to, moving inventory and other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles or shipping containers by hand, tractors, or other equipment.  Back up other warehouse functions and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain warehouse and equipment in a safe, organized and clean manner.
  2. Perform related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient use of all warehouse equipment, supplies and materials.
  3. Communicate as necessary with Warehouse Manager to ensure accurate and efficient control of inventory.
  4. Perform standard inventory control functions as required to maintain an accurate and efficient control of inventory.
  5. Load/unload inventory as required from appropriate shipping container or delivery vehicle
  6. Stage incoming/outgoing inventory in proper location(s)
  7. Read pick-tickets, packing slips and operate scan guns
  8. Record number of units received or shipped
  9. Pick, pack, weigh and attach identifying tags/labels for shipping inventory
  10. Install protective devices such as corner bracing and shrink wrap to prevent shifting or damage during shipping.
  11. Ship inventory using most cost-effective methods and carriers using SHIMS and other software provided
  12. Participate in ongoing product and company-wide training
  13. Perform Quality Control (QC) Inspection of all incoming inventory.
  14. Notify Return Good Authorization (RGA) Quality Control (QC) Inspector of customer returns

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School diploma or GED

Electrical Engineer (Controls Engineer)

SUMMARY:

NICOR Lighting's Electrical Engineer will deal with control systems focusing on the design, development, and testing of our products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure product design integrity by reviewing designs, recommending actions, providing solutions to the most technical challenges, and providing overall electrical technical leadership.
  2. Specific responsibility for creating system architecture, combining lighting, controls, and services.
  3. Work with Management teams, Marketing, and Sales to define new product requirements, and map the requirements into technical performance specifications.
  4. Work closely with Manufacturing Operations to bring new SSL product designs through prototyping, testing, certification, and product launch.
  5. Differentiate and manage SSL product design projects including technology provider selection; project goals; schedules; budget; and overall project management functionalities.
  6. Define, organize, and maintain NICOR Server file structure of SSL specifications, CAD files, design documents and revisions, bills of materials (BOMs), etc.
  7. Evaluate and select the electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and semiconductor components determined to be optimal for design and manufacture of NICOR SSL products.
  8. Continuously review and evaluate new SSL technologies, competitor products, and NICOR SSL products (including field failures and customer returns) to keep NICOR at the forefront of SSL competition.
  9. Help optimize supply chain, manufacturing cost reduction, quality control, and resolution of any product issues.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Engineering software - Electrical: Solid works PCB, Eagle PCB, PC Worx, JetBrains; InDesign; Illustrator; Photometric toolbox.
  • Strong lighting controls experience, DALI protocols a plus.
  • Understanding/knowledge of lighting basics, solid state lighting, LED arrays and PCB design
  • Basic math and reading (English) skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with excellent follow-up.
  • Five years related industry experience, lighting or controls experience a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Programming experience with structured text, C, C++, Java script.
  • Experience with PLC programing to IEC 61131-3 standard and other system controls standards.
  • Theory-of-operation knowledge and understanding of LED’s, electrical power supply and drive circuitry, heat sink thermodynamics, optics, and general knowledge of Solid-State Lighting components.
  • Experience with DALI controls is a requirement. Additional experience with BLE MESH, Wi-Fi based system architecture, and wireless controls systems and low voltage system development a strong plus.
  • Experience with IoT solutions a plus
  • Experience specifying plug-n-play low-voltage and line-voltage wiring systems a plus
  • General hands-on proficiency with computers, electronic test instruments, lab and shop tools related to prototype building and testing.
  • Proven project management skills and experience as related to bringing new products to market on time and within budget.
