Product description
Suitable for new construction in residential and commercial applications. NON-IC. Insulation must be kept a minimum of 3” from housing.
- Low-voltage new construction housing features a Class H 50W transformer that steps 120V input down to 12V for MR16 and JC lamps
- Airtight, non-IC housing helps reduce air leakage between conditioned spaces and ceiling plenums while meeting Washington State Energy Code airflow requirements
- Low-profile 5.5-inch height fits standard 2-inch x 6-inch joist construction and accommodates ceiling thicknesses from 0.5 inch to 1.5 inches
- Heavy-gauge captive hanger bars provide exceptional stability, tool-free adjustment, and compatibility with joist spans up to 24 inches
- Simplified installation features integral strain relief pry-outs, push-in wire connectors, captive nails, multiple knockouts, and accessible junction box design for convenient wiring and maintenance

Construction
- 5.5” height allows use in 2” x 6” joist construction
- Housing is secured to plaster frame with screws and can be removed for access to junction box
- Housing adjusts from 0.5” to 1.5” to accomodate ceiling thickness
Electrical
- Transformer includes integral thermal protector guards against improper lamping and misuse of insulation materials
- Use low voltage 20W - 50W MR-16 or JC type lamps (12V) (not included)
- Class H 50W transformer, step down from 120V to 12V
- Use dimmers specifically designed for low voltage magnetic transformers
- Supplied with three push-in wire connectors
Installations
- Four pryouts with integral strain relief simplify Romex installation
- Unique hanger bar lip design helps align can to joist
- Four double-headed captive nails provide for ease of installation
- Bars can be repositioned 90° on plaster frame without tools
- Bars fit onto T-bar spine for quick alignment and can be permanetly secured
- Score lines allow bars to be shortened without tools to accommodate a 12” joist span
- Heavy-gauge NICOR captive hanger bars provide greater stability, allowing housing to be positioned at any point within a 24” joist span, then locked in place with set screws
